CHARACTER INFO
Name | Roxy Lalonde
Series | Homestuck
Canon Point | Just before the Red Miles pierces her chest.
Reference | HERE
Age | 15 - aged up upon arrival. I'd say she's a bit older mentally, but not any significant amount.
Gender | Female, both physically and mentally. There's nothing to suggest or otherwise imply that she were canonically trans, so I will be going with this!

Suitability | Roxy would adjust to life slowly in Attollo-- she would have a lot of difficulty with it, but she would ultimately be okay. Being as secluded from other humans as she has been her entire life, Roxy will be at first overjoyed at the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends and physically interact with them. Because Roxy is a physical person, she will really love the opportunity to reach out and touch people. The fact that the setting will give heavy encouragement to relationships will work for rather than against Roxy-- she is lonely and wants companionship so much. Sex leads into romance, she figures. So while she'd be shy of herself in a sexual situation, she wouldn't be completely against it. As time goes on, she'll miss her friends and realize that her plan to meet her mom can't come to fruition, and that will hurt her deeply. But if anything it'll push her towards other people even further: she will go to them for comfort and support. In regards to her drinking, she will definitely be struggling with that as she always is. She'll be working hard to pay for all the booze she drinks.

Appearance | Roxy will not change a whole lot from her canon appearance. Her body type as I headcanon it is largely boyish: small breasts, narrow hips, broad shoulders. She is slightly muscular but in a thick way-- she's a little bit pudgy! Her blonde hair will have grown out a bit (she'll want to cut it) and she's gotten a bit taller (about 5'7).

Personality |
Roxy is a genuine person.

There are no mind games just as there is no passive aggression. She tries her best, does not always do the right thing, and always has her friend's best interests at heart. That said, she is not a selfless person, far from it-- but she always tries to do what she can. She wants to be helpful and nice, and though she fucks up at times-- doing things that are outright selfish or thoughtless... Roxy is genuinely always on the lookout for the people she loves.

And that stems from a desire to be loved or liked in return.

She is very lonely. She grew up in a colony of people who were a completely different species, and so was raised by them. She did socialize, but as she got older it was increasingly obvious they were not human. And what Roxy wanted the most was human contact. Her mother died long before she was born, so she didn't have any parental figure to guide her along. After all, she is one of just two humans left alive in the future.

When she finally does make human friends, things are made worse: with contact made possible through alien technology, two of her friends live in the past. And then there's Dirk, who is in the future with her. Dirk is a sweet person. Dirk is a good person. Roxy falls in love with him, but he knows very early on that he's gay and so uninterested in women. This is a love that goes on for years rather than an idle crush. Roxy is forceful and crude with him-- she hits on him unabashedly, always getting turned down.

She's always known about its existence, but there is a hefty supply of alcohol in her home. It was left there by her mother in something like a passive aggressive dare, and Roxy knows that-- but after the crushing loneliness, she longs for a connection. Her mother can be inferred to have enjoyed drinking a lot, so Roxy picks it up too-- it's an attempt to be like her mother, an attempt at connecting with her even though she is long gone. But it escalates quickly, being a fun way to push all her various problems aside, and it becomes her vice.

Within her group of friends, she is as dependable as an alcoholic can be. She will always listen to anyone's problems, and will always offer advice if asked. She loves her friends more than anything, so she tries to be good to them. She tries to cheer them up when they are sad, and soothe them when they're angry. She keeps herself chipper and cheerful despite the huge sadness in her. It's a delicate balance, and Roxy does show them moments of vulnerability and sadness, but on the whole? She does her best to stay upbeat.

When faced with strangers... she'd be warm and kind as much as possible. Not much would differentiate a stranger from a friend-- she is friendly to a fault, but is not immune to bad first impressions! She just prefers to not listen to her gut when it comes to people, what with her only social contact her entire life being people she gets along with or likes. Flirting is also just something she does. She likes to flirt with boys and would do it to any attractive male so long as they weren't an ass right off the bat-- it's funny to her to flirt like that, but it's also just fun. A lot of what she does is fueled on by her sense of humor. She amuses herself more than she probably should.

Roxy has a need to improve on herself, and a thirst for knowledge: the two come hand in hand. She loves to learn and reads very often, even writing a little herself. She has an extreme ease with technology and esoteric sciences, learning them quickly and easily without any help. She is entirely self taught, which speaks a lot of her diligence. She is stubborn and does not give up on anything if she can help it.

Even when things look hopelessly bleak, Roxy tries her best to be optimistic. She wants to be happy, so she tries very hard for that. Even through all her issues and pain, she looks on the brighter side of things, disliking things that are too dreary or depressing.

Overall, Roxy is genuine-- she isn't perfect, but she tries her best.

Possessions | The clothes on her back, the scarf around her neck. Her sylladex, which contains a lot of really miscellaneous odds and ends (preserved dead mutant cats, some booze, her rifle, a bottle of paradox slime) but more importantly allows a video game-esque storage of items. It's basically a bag of holding.

Character Abilities/Powers | All sorts of esoteric sciences that aren't named, but she successfully puts together a gun that sends objects flying through time and space. That means she is really fucking smart, especially with no one around to teach her how to do that sort of thing. However that is more or less mundane. As a Rouge of Void, she blocks out cameras/viewports around herself-- but only when sober.

Weaknesses/Fears | As mentioned previously, Roxy is an alcoholic. This leaves her with all the awful side effects. Hangovers, withdrawal, terrible motor skills and most of all the fact that it will burn a lot of money in-game. She can't cope with much without her alcohol due to her addiction, either! Upsetting Roxy is a surefire way to get her drunk, etc. It's a huge problem for her and I hope to play this as respectfully as possible.

Roxy has a lot of character flaws, but the largest of all is her selfishness. She tries very hard to be selfless and to be considerate but she ends up doing a lot of things that turn out that way anyways. She wants a lot of things for herself and so will often do things that hurt people-- for example, hitting on Dirk so aggressively while drunk despite knowing the dude's gay. Honestly a lot of these things are related to her being drunk; she has decreased self control when she's not sober so she ends up doing things she regrets.

Her greatest fear is being left alone, or abandoned. She loves people and craves social interaction very deeply, so having that taken away from her would hurt her a lot. After she gets used to other people physically being with her, she'll develop a dislike of being actually physically alone too.

Requested Village | Fuar please!

[ Roxy is flipping on the communicator, looking into it for a moment-- eyes squinted, brow furrowed-- before she heaves a huge sigh. ]

Fuckin' spare me. Shit was getting mad crazy, nasty complicated, and I'm just all stuck in some place with a cryptic-as-shit mayor and the dead cold. I never thought I'd miss the sweltering goddamn heat of summer in the middle of the ocean, but do I ever...

But hey. Could be worse. I mean this thing's got no fuckin' text function, what a bummer, but apparently I'm not all on my lonesome here. And apparently you folk're all hecka friendly, according to the local Mistress of the Chill, lady of the frozen-to-the-bone, the Ice Sorceress.

I am, howevs, in some totes dire need of the real down-low. The genuine truths. Attollo?? The fuck. Marks?? Damn son, what. Magical village barriers?? Okay. If anyone could get their explain on I'd be real appreciative, you dig?

[ She reaches off screen and pulls a glass over, takes a long swig of it, and sighs again as she sets it down. ]

And if anyone's seen my friends, I wanna talk to them. I'm lookin' for a lil lady called Jane Crocker, a hunk of a dude called Dirk Strider, and a rough-n-tumble sorta guy called Jake English. Guys, if you hear me, say something? We had shit to do.

Thanks.

Third-person |
Roxy is sure it's lights out, end of the line, all services terminated. Roxy is sure she's about to die. But the moment she feels the rush of air and closes her eyes, waiting for that pain and cringing away from death, in that moment she is whipped away.

The cold air startles her more than anything else. Then it's the sting of ice and snow against her face and her eyes pop open. There is a moment where there is nothing but the cold and the sound of the wind. There is a moment where Roxy counts her blessings but wonders if she's died. She's never seen snow before her entire life. But it's not something pretty right now. It's vicious and cold and biting and her palms hit the ground in short order. It takes a second for her to realize she's totally fallen over. The wind is disorienting. And as she looks up to see the fairies dancing around, their giggles lost in the roar of the wind, she also sees the woman approach.

It is serene and so very odd to see the woman not be tossed and tousled in the wind. Her clothing and hair stay put, as though she were surrounded by a barrier. Roxy climbs to her feet, wrapping her arms around her own middle, and listens to what she has to say. She takes her hand and the scenery once again changes. Roxy is alarmed and unnerved, but the warmth is welcome and the storm continues to rage outside. It's cozy in this place, and as she turns to look around herself... she realizes it's decorated just so. Just to her tastes.

What the fuck?

So Roxy opens her mouth to talk but the woman pushes forward, explaining a few things and then leaving. It is the least helpful thing she could have done, but Roxy is a resourceful girl. Maybe she can figure this out on her own. After a bit of pacing back and forth and considering the state of her life and death, she decides she's not dead. But she should probably get in contact with the other people the woman mentioned.

It takes a minute to really digest everything-- and Roxy is sure she hasn't gotten it fully-- before she opens the device she was given.
